- A new class is being introduced the at UC Santa Cruz extension this quarter:
-
- MS-Windows Programming with C++ and OWL
-
- Object Windows Library (OWL) is the C++ class library offered in the Borland
- C++ environment. Many developers turn to OWL in order to achieve a more
- robust object oriented model as opposed to MFC.
-
- The course will cover the overall architecture of OWL and it's object
- oriented model, as well as specifics of how to achieve various MS-Windows
- goals:
-
- Dialogs
- Controls
- Menus
- MDI
- VBX support (even in 32 bit programs!)
- DLLs
- Printing
- to name a few...
-
- The knowledge gathered in this class will be useful across all these major
- Windows versions: Win3.1, WinNT, and Win95. Updated information regarding
- Windows 95 support is very likely (but not guarenteed) towards the end of the
- class (depending on Borland's product release schedules).
-
- The course is scheduled on Wednesdays from Jan 17 to Mar 27 with one week of
- no class to be announced. Enrollment is $350. You can call the UC extension
- to enroll at 408-427-6600.
-
- The instructor is Mark Jeghers (myself :-), a contractor/trainer who focuses
- mainly on Graphical User Interfaces on various platforms. The instructor has
- taught across the nation, spoken at software conferences, and will soon have
- his second technical magazine article published (in Cross-Platform Strategies
- magazine). You can also call me for further questions at 408-281-4823 and
- leave voicemail (I promise to reply ASAP!).
